Licensing, policy & documentation support

Animal facilities are complex places. They bring together animals, people, legislation, public expectations, education, safety, staff, volunteers, budgets and long-term decisions.
ZooCO Zoo COnsultancy supports organisations that want to strengthen animal welfare, improve their facilities, structure their documentation and make better-informed decisions.
ZooCO works with zoos, animal parks, sanctuaries, rescue centres, children’s farms, public animal facilities, municipalities, NGOs and organisations that keep or work with animals.
The focus is practical, careful and realistic. Not a quick checklist, but a broad assessment of animals, enclosures, staff, volunteers, visitors, policy, documentation and long-term feasibility.
Preparing for EAZA or other accreditation processes
Applying for membership of EAZA or another professional zoo, aquarium or animal welfare organisation requires more than good intentions. It often asks for strong documentation, clear policies, structured animal records, education and conservation information, daily management procedures and evidence that the facility is working at a professional level.
ZooCO can support zoos, animal parks and aquariums with a pre-assessment before they start such a process.
This may include reviewing:
animal welfare and husbandry documentation
animal records and collection information
enclosure information
education and conservation policy
staff and volunteer structure
daily care procedures
safety and visitor communication
management plans
existing reports, protocols and improvement plans
The outcome can be a baseline report, gap analysis or practical action plan. This helps the organisation understand what is already in place, what needs improvement and which questions require specialist, legal or association-specific guidance.
ZooCO does not act on behalf of EAZA or any other association. Any formal application, screening, accreditation or membership decision remains fully with the relevant organisation.
